Viscose rugs are incredibly comfortable and silky smooth underfoot, creating an element of spaciousness and refinement in any space.

Viscose is a man made fibre which emulates the look and lustre of a silk rug by a subtle shimmer and richness of tone not achievable by wool, cotton or polyester fibres.

Over time the lustre will as it intensifies, give a wonderful luxurious character to your rug.

Take note:

Viscose rugs are not the easiest rug to clean, but they deliver a certain style and tone not achievable by another fibre.

The fibres of viscose do stiffen and contract when in contact with water – they do not bounce back in the way that they do with cotton rugs.

A viscose rug is a little like a silk dress – please consider carefully if you have little hands or paws at home, where a frequent spill might be more likely!

Please note, as each rug has been handmade there may be a 5% variation in the dimensions shown

Cleaning:

When vacuuming select a gentle setting to protect your viscose fibres.

Act quickly if you have a spill since stains left in for a prolonged period will set and will be more difficult to remove.

Do not panic and use a variety of cleaning products to remove the stain quickly, this can cause a permanent setting of the stain, pile distortion or matting.

Water will cause pale viscose rugs to turn yellow, and since the viscose fibres are very absorbent, abstain from using water or too much cleaning solution to clean.

Never scrub a spill, use paper towels or a clean white cloth to gently blot away, followed by a cloth dipped in citric solution (citric acid powder or crystals are available online) to very lightly dab to the spot – do not saturate! - this will help remove the stain.

Be gentle, always rub in the direction of the pile, not backward and forward.

Should the fibres have stiffened, soften with a little fabric softener sprayed on the treated area, and dry it fast, dry it naturally outside.

A natural absorbent powder (e.g. salt or talc) might be applied lightly on a wet area; leave overnight and vacuum next day.

Brush your carpet in the same direction with a soft brush to unite the cleaned area with the rest of the rug fibres.

For stubborn stains we recommend professional dry cleaning by a dry, moisture-free process for optimum care, here a pre-spray mist is applied to the rug to help release any soiling from the fibres – this should be only a mist, not a wetting application.
